Genius is Seeing Connections

“You know, that reminds me of …”. Do you say this to others or they to you? Seeing connections is a sign of intelligence, and certainly memory.
Stephen Jay Gould (1941-2002) said, “It took me years to realize that was a skill. I could never understand why everybody just didn’t do that. People kept telling me these essays were good and I thought, All right, I can write, but surely what I’m doing is not special. And then I found out that’s not true. Most people don’t do it. They just don’t see the connections.”

Could we see more connections to solve problems if we tried harder?
