World Class Things

“Only through focus can you do world class things, no matter how capable you are.” Bill Gates
This is a daily inspiration to me. Is there anyone who doesn’t lose focus?IMG_4140

Our Impact on Others

“Who are we, if not measured by our impact on others?” Neil deGrasse and Annie Druyan
And, it’s always so hard to know how much we’ll mean to the people in our lives.

Gifts

“None of us is finished. We all have some ingrown place with potential growth. One of the most devastating and damaging things that can happen to anyone is to fail to fulfill potential. A kind of gnawing emptiness, longing, frustration, and anger takes over when this occurs.” E. T. Hall, Anthropologist

Living Life and Writing Chapters

It seems to me that the best way to live one’s life is to think of heuristic chapters. Babyhood, childhood, school, college, partnering, careers, and all that happens subsequent to that. Life is long – and full – if we keep engaging fully. At the end, our life’s “book” should be fun to read, and maybe even inspiring.

Thinking, Thinking, Thinking

“I always wanted to be someone, but I should have been more specific.” Jane Wagner

In some capacity, I could still:

Dancer…check out dance classes

Teacher…volunteer to teach a language to adults

Artist…sign up for a class…now

Lawyer…be a court appointed guardian for children

Chef…offer to cater a dinner for a friend…to get started. It depends on what you do next that counts.

Being a Noun

Nouns just lie around and collect dust. They’re no fun to talk to and they’re not very good ball players. They don’t see much or go anywhere special.  You won’t see them on Broadway or on a mountain top. They don’t ride the waves or even a camel. Best not be a noun, if you can help it.Image
