What Is Your Gift?

“Be a good steward of your gifts, ” the poet Jane Kenyon urged.
Days can get away from us and we fail to do the one thing that is most important.
This is a wasted day. We really have no time to waste.

If we are present in the company of our lives, meaning we are listening and thinking about what is happening, there will be times when we must capture what we’ve learned. Our memories are superb, but they fade, so we must help them. Capture what you’ve learned in a journal, a book inscription, a piece of art, writing or some other permanent place. This is a gift you give yourself that propels you in the direction you’re trying to go.

What Did I Just Learn From That - In This Moment- That I Must Capture?

Saying A Thing

“When you say something, make sure you have said it. The chances of your having said it are only fair.” E. B. White
This is true in speech, writing or visual arts. Best to ask the receiver what he understands. And, don’t over-speak. Be precise, choose the right words and carefully proceed. Good luck.

Observations of a College Freshman on Thanksgiving Break

Little brother sat in rapt attention as he listened to his very happy older brother. Mr. College loves everything about school so far and excitedly recounted how much a professor liked a paper he wrote. It was fun to overhear such a special family moment of joy.

Creative Types

It’s time to support the creatives among us – those who write, who make films from original material, those who sing and perform, and the artists. They need us and we sure need them. Remember to check out what is happening where you live…and make an appearance. Then, do it again and again until you’re one of the regulars.
